History of Holi Festival
The history of holi is associated with the triumph of faith in god over negative belief. In bygone times, it is believed that Holika was a sister of a king who wanted to be declared self as the only god on earth. But except for the every other person, his son, Prahlad denied to worship his father because he was keen follower of Lord Vishnu. Enraged by this, he ordered his sister Holika to take Prahlad in her lap and sit on a burning pyre. Since Holika was immune to the fire, the father wanted to get his son killed.

Prahlad when realized that he is sitting in ablaze fire, he starts chanting Lord Vishnu’s name, who saved his life. And the boon of Holika turned into bane because she was inspired from the ill will of damaging life of a child misusing her powers.
