History of Kumbh

Legends say that during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) a pot came out called as Kumbh (a pot full of immortality nectar) over which god and evil fought over. During this fight, the pot spilled over four places ie; Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nasik. The ritual of then visiting these places as a pilgrimage point has started. The place is visited broadly by every Hindu irrespective of caste and creed.
