Located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha National Park is also known as Kanha Tiger reserve which is the largest forest reserve. With the richness of flora and fauna, this wildlife reserve houses one of the rarest species of deer - the Barasingha. The unique concept of Barasingha conservation to save these species that were once on the verge of extinction. 

Also featured in “The Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling, Kanha sets an inspirational ground that gives the perfect sight of magnanimous counts of Barasingha in its natural habitat. The most astounding feature of this region is its interesting topography that comprises of Surpan River meanders, grasslands that cover the extensive plateau. 

The real fun of wildlife trail in Kanha tiger reserve begins from the month of April to June and November to January. It remains closed during the month of Monsoon season. Park visiting timings gets change as per the climatic condition experiences by Kanha National Park. The joy of elephant safari in Kanha offers an outstanding experience of observing the sights of the forest over the elephant back.

Kanha museum inside the wildlife reserve is an astonishing feature that depicts the attributes and activities of the park along with the tribal culture of the state of Madhya Pradesh. 

Wildlife at Kanha:

Antelope, Black Buck, Deer, Rare Barasingha, the Swamp Deer, Tiger, Panther, Sambar, Chital, Gaur, Langur, Jackal, Chousingha, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog. Reptiles include Indian Cobra, Indian Krait, Russell’s Viper, Indian Monitor, Common Rat Snake, Fan throated lizard, etc. Besides these, there is a wide range of species also available for fishes and birds which can be found in Kanha reserve.
