Wildlife at Periyar:

Elephant, wild pig, sambhar, gaur, Malabar flying squirrel, stripe-necked mongoose, tiger barking deer, Indian wild dog. The major four species of primates - the rare lion-tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, common langur, Gee’s Golden langur. Overall there are 49 species of mammals, 246 birds, 28 reptiles, 8 amphibians, 22 fishes, and 112 butterflies.
