Nestled in the Aravali hills, Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary dominates the skyline with its blend of sharp cliffs and long narrow valleys. The topography of Sariska comprises of scrub-thorn arid forests, dry deciduous forests, rocks, and grasses. Offering a broad range of wildlife, it is a wonderful symbol of ecological adoption.
Sariska Tiger reserve was once set as a hunting ground of the Maharajas of Alwar. The main attraction of this forest area is the majestic Royal Bengal Tigers which offers a thrilling experience of enjoying tiger safari in its reserve. Within its forest area, there are some historical ruins of medieval temples of Garh-Rojar, belonging to the 10th and 11 centuries. Also, the breathtaking Siliserh Lake and beautiful hunting lodge overlooking it is a major attraction of Sariska.
The forest remains closed from July to September, therefore the best time to visit Sariska starts from November to May. The dry climate together with the cool and pleasant type of climatic conditions makes wildlife tour refreshing, easy-going and enjoyable. When it comes to experiencing jungle safari in the wildlife reserve, safaris are available in two ways Jeep Safari and Canter Safari.
What to expect:
A 17th-century castle lies on a sharp hilltop at Kankwari, provides panoramic views of flying Egyptian vultures and eagles.
Wildlife at Sariska:
Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal, Tiger, Sambar, Chital, Nilgai, Chausingha, Wild Boar, Langur, Rhesus Monkeys. Birds like Peafowl, Grey Partridge, Bush Quail, Sand Grouse, Tree Pie, Golden backed Wood Pecker, Crested Serpent Eagle and the Great Indian Horned Owl can be found in the reserve area.
